'Interview with a Roleplayer: Laule Kimori' by Aell von Glitz

This month's interview had to be brief, as my organising of the
Assassins' House Games left me with very little spare time to
write. I sat in my study sorting papers, wondering who I should
ask to interview, when a leaflet dropped out from inside a stack
of forms. "TAXI -- The Original Portal Club" decorated the front,
with a picture of a smiling priest on the front. The priest, I
knew, was Laule Kimori -- President of the Taxi Club. After some
inquiring, I found that Laule was on an extended break to his
grandmother's house in Bois. So, summoning my own taxi, I headed
on to meet him.

He answered the door with his usual welcoming smile. "I'm very
much looking forward to talking to you," he stated, gesturing for
me to come in. "If you're happy to come into my little room
upstairs, it's quiet and safe, and we won't be disturbed."
Thanking him, I followed him up the stairs and took the empty
seat he gestured to. As he perched on the edge of his bed, I
immediately got right down to business, questioning Laule about
his early life.

"Well I grew up in the forests near here," he started, gazing out
the windows to the woodlands of Bois. "It was such a wonderful
place to be a child; kind woodsmen, talking mice... quite ideal,
I think!" I noticed his gaze was dreamy and reminiscent so I left
him with his thoughts for a few moments before encouraging him to
tell me more.

"I didn't know at the time that my family originated from far
across the sea. I always wondered about my father's accent, but
being a child I was quite oblivious to the world outside Bois!"
He chuckled to himself, his rounded belly shaking with the
movement. "When I grew older and desired to venture from Bois, I
travelled to Genua. I found, to my surprise, an older brother and
sister that I had not known about. Suddenly the world seemed very
big."

I noticed a certain innocence about Laule that was not
immediately apparent when meeting him. I speculate now, whilst
writing this, that growing up in a secluded fairytale village
like Bois leaves you with a certain childish naivety, especially
when venturing out into the rest of the Disc.

"Suddenly I had family where I only had solitude before,"
continued Laule, warmth reaching his reminiscent eyes. "There
were so many people I had not met, so I travelled to Ankh-Morpork
where the rest of my family had made a home. It took me qite a
while to get there," he added, "but I had some skills, and I had
seen an advertisement in the paper for people who could transport
others around... so by the powers that Pishe granted me I was
able to use this as a chance to earn a living whilst exploring my
heritage!"

I'd noticed that Laule had mentioned he was a follower of Pishe.
My curiosity taking the better of me, I inquired what had drawn
him to this walk of life. "If I said that I was lost in the
forest and found Pishe, it would not be far from the truth! I
wandered at night into a wooded place, with a pool," he stated,
his gestures now somewhat animated. "There was a priest there and
his words rang clear in my mind. I had only ever a desire for
good."

The whole scenario struck me as being the closest thing to
'fate', but I did have to wonder what Laule would have done had
he not found that secluded pool. "Well, I don't think it's a
secret the admiration, should I say, that I have developed for
witches." He chuckled to himself. "I would talk about them so
frequently with the fellow members of taxi, they jokingly made me
their head witch."

And it was with this that our interview ended. The sun was
setting over the peaceful village of Bois, and Laule escorted me
to the door where my taxi was patiently waiting. I asked if he
had any closing remarks before I left. "Do you know what it's
like to stand on the ice fields at the Hub and look over all of
the Disc?" And with a wink, he shut the door, leaving me to
ponder this on my short journey back home.

Macha and Anjin's wedding

Macha Hirashi says: alright everyone shut up! so we can start

Magistrate Jeanie says: Before we start, please try to be a bit

Eliza Kimori sits down and admires the couple quietly, .. almost a tear in her eye.

Magistrate Jeanie smiles.
Macha Hirashi giggles.

Minister Llia Kimori sits down.
Young Tritia Rainseeker sits down.
Pious Dvalinn sits down down.
Minister Llia Kimori prostrates herself and shouts praise to
Pishe, Goddess of Slight Showers.
Pious Dvalinn sits down.
Minister Llia Kimori sits up.
Magistrate Jeanie says: We have come together in this beautiful
    park to witness and to celebrate the marriage of Macha and
    Anjin. Love brings here today two people who found each
    other in this and in another world, and who want to spend
    their lives together in both.
The bronze moon dragon peers at Magistrate Jeanie.
Minister Llia Kimori's small white mouse politely raises his hat
to a passing insect.
The bronze moon dragon stands up.
Magistrate Jeanie says: Here in this world and in this park be
    Macha, a yeng woman from Ankh-Morpork, and Anjin, a yeng man
    here from Bes Pelargic. Love brought them together despite
    all the differences in their lives: language, culture,
    traditions - and a few thousand moiles, too.
Magistrate Jeanie smiles at Macha Hirashi and Anjin Hirashi.
The tiny duckling quacks.
The tiny duckling goes "Quack".
Magistrate Jeanie says: So, Macha and Anjin, if at some point in
    yer future lives, yer love seems to falter and yer live
    together seems to be falling apart, think of how love
    brought ye together across continents. Love knows neither
    bounds nayr boundaries, and if ye want it, love will surely
    take ye through both the good and bad times.
Ressi Uchiha giggles.
The tiny duckling goes "Quack".
Magistrate Jeanie says: But let us nayt speak of bad times, when
    happy times and happy events be clearly ahead.
Magistrate Jeanie says: And for the happy event we be celebrating
    here, Oi think there be something ye'd loike to tell each
    other.
Pious Laule Kimori arrives from the southwest.
The bronze moon dragon gets frustrated as she tries to groom herself all over.
Magistrate Jeanie nudges Anjin Hirashi.
Eliza whispers something to Ressi Uchiha.
The tiny duckling quacks.
Pious Laule Kimori bows deeply.
Ressi Uchiha smiles at Pious Laule Kimori.
Eliza shushes Pious Laule Kimori.
Some ice forms slowly over one of the streams.
Anjin Hirashi says in Agatean: Today I, Anjin Jurianu Hilahsi,
    give my rove, my sool and my rife to yoo, Macha. I swear to
    alway care for andplotect yoo flom all that oppose yoo, to
    share in yoor high and yoor row, to be to yoo what yoo are
    to me a guiding right in the darkest of day and someone to
    help yoo shoold yoo fall.
Ressi Uchiha smiles.
Pious Laule Kimori beams.
Macha Hirashi smiles.
Ressi Uchiha sniffs.
Eliza gets a handkerchief from a pocket in the hunter's pack.
Macha Hirashi says: When we met, we clicked. We became friends
    instantly, then lovers, and soon we were in love. Everytime
    I'm with you it's as if I'm walking on air. When I'm in a
    bad mood, you brighten my day and have me smiling almost
    immediately. When your arms around me, I feel safe, loved,
    and as they say all warm and fuzzy inside.
Eliza gives a handkerchief to Ressi Uchiha.
Ressi Uchiha nods quietly to Eliza
Macha Hirashi says: I find it... difficult to describe just how
    much I love you. So let me say this: I'm here today to join
    my life to yours, not merely as your wife, but as your
    friend, your lover, and your confidant. I swear to be true
    to you, love you, and respect you as we grow together for
    eternity. Let me be the shoulder you lean on,the rock on
    which you rest,the companion of your life.
Macha Hirashi says: With a free and unconstrained soul I pledge
    my entire self to you, I give you all that I am, and all I
    ever will be. I promise to always stand by your side, listen
    when you speak, comfort you when you cry, and laugh when you
    laugh.
The tiny duckling goes "Quack".
Magistrate Jeanie smiles at Macha Hirashi and Anjin Hirashi.
Macha Hirashi blushes.
Magistrate Jeanie says: Macha and Anjin, with all that was said
    here before these witnesses, Oi have nay doubt wot the
    answers to moi questions will be, but still Oi do ask.
Magistrate Jeanie gets a closed thin book from a pocket in a
white linen bag.
Magistrate Jeanie opens the thin book to page 1.
Eliza blinks a tear away.
Magistrate Jeanie asks: Anjin, will ye take Macha as yer wife?
    Will ye love her, comfort her, honour and keep her, and
    forsaking all others, keep only unto her, as long as ye both
    shall live?
Anjin Hirashi says in Agatean: i will
Ressi Uchiha smiles.
Magistrate Jeanie nods at Anjin Hirashi.
Magistrate Jeanie asks: Macha, will ye take Anjin as yer husband?
    Will ye love him, comfort him, honour and keep him, and
    forsaking all others, keep only unto him, as long as ye both
    shall live?
Macha Hirashi says: i will

Magistrate Jeanie offers to marry Anjin Hirashi to Macha Hirashi.
Macha Hirashi agrees to marry Anjin Hirashi.
Anjin Hirashi agrees to marry Macha Hirashi.
Magistrate Jeanie gets a seven-plus-one diamond wedding ring and
a gold ribbon wedding band from a pocket in an azure gabardine
vestment.
Magistrate Jeanie says: May these rings be symbols of yer love
    for and faith in each other, and may they always remind ye
    of yer feelings on this day.
Eliza gasps quietly.
Magistrate Jeanie gives a seven-plus-one diamond wedding ring to
Anjin Hirashi.
Anjin Hirashi says in Agatean: I swear before all plesent I take
    yoo a my wife for all eternity, to rove yoo until rove no
    rongah exist. Take this ling a a sign of my eternal rove and
    devotion to yoo.
The tiny duckling flaps its tiny wings uselessly.
Anjin Hirashi gives a seven-plus-one diamond wedding ring to
Macha Hirashi.
Ressi Uchiha woos.
Macha Hirashi removes a pair of cyan fingerless gloves so she can
wear a seven-plus-one diamond wedding ring.
Macha Hirashi wears a pair of cyan fingerless gloves.
Macha Hirashi says: Wherever the winding, unknown road that is
    fate may take me, I will stand by your side as your wife,
    and will never, ever stop loving you. So before these
    witnesses, I give you this ring as a sign of my eternal love
    and devotion to you.
Minister Llia Kimori tears up.
Magistrate Jeanie gives a gold ribbon wedding band to Macha
Hirashi.
Macha Hirashi gives a gold ribbon wedding band to Anjin Hirashi.

Ressi Uchiha clears away more tears with the handkerchief.
Macha Hirashi smiles.

Magistrate Jeanie says: Let us pray.
Ressi Uchiha spends a moment in thought with her head bowed.
Pious Laule Kimori smiles brightly and as if totaly enthralled.
Magistrate Jeanie says: Our lady Pishe, creator and preserver of
    all life, please look with favor upon those who have
    assembled here, and especially upon this man and this woman
    who decided to live together in matrimony.
Magistrate Jeanie says: Give them wisdom and devotion, that each
    may be to the other a strength in need, a counselor in
    perplexity, a comfort in sorrow, and a companion in joy.
    Give them grace, when they hurt each other, to recognize and
    acknowledge their fault, and to seek each other's
    forgiveness.
Minister Llia Kimori prostrates herself and shouts praise to
Pishe, Goddess of Slight Showers.
The tiny duckling flaps its tiny wings uselessly.
Pious Laule Kimori kneels and prays quietly for a few moments.
The lake lies in the distance, frozen.
Magistrate Jeanie says: And give them such fulfillment of their
    mutual affection that they may reach out in love and concern
    for others.
Magistrate Jeanie smiles.
Young Tritia Rainseeker smiles.
Sister Eloise Hirashi briefly bows her head and mutters something.
Magistrate Jeanie says: Macha and Anjin, by the authority vested
    in me by our Lady Pishe and by the Council of Ankh-Morpork,
    Oi nayw pronounce ye husband and wife. From this day on, yer
    lives shall forever be joined by the vows ye made today.
Magistrate Jeanie says: Those who were joined together here
    today, let nay man put asunder.
A white dove appears from nowhere and drops a wedding ring into
Anjin Hirashi's hands.  It then flies to Macha Hirashi and drops
a matching ring into her hands before flying away.
Magistrate Jeanie marries Anjin Hirashi to Macha Hirashi.
The wedding arbour vanishes into a romance dimension.
Sister Sushiko sobs happily.
Two tiny ducklings goes "Quack".
You applaud Jeanie, Macha Hirashi and Anjin Hirashi wholeheartedly.
Minister Llia Kimori cheers happily.
The wolf-like Ramtop wolfhound sniffs thoughtfully at the air.
The fat duck goes "Quack".
Sister Eloise Hirashi cheers enthusiastically.
Young Tritia Rainseeker cheers enthusiastically at Macha Hirashi
and Anjin Hirashi.
Magistrate Jeanie says to Anjin Hirashi: Ye may kiss the bride.
Eliza whistles in appreciation and joy.
Minister Llia Kimori woos.
Anjin Hirashi kisses Macha Hirashi sweetly.
Macha Hirashi blushes brightly.
The wolf-like Ramtop wolfhound wonders where to join the nearest
drove.
Sister Eloise Hirashi sighs dreamily.
Ressi Uchiha says: cheers all.
Magistrate Jeanie says: And nayw it be moi happy privilege to
    congratulate and introduce to ye the newly wed couple Macha
    and Anjin Hirashi.
Magistrate Jeanie congratulates Macha Hirashi and Anjin Hirashi.
Sister Sushiko woos.
Ressi Uchiha whistles.
Pious Laule Kimori cheers in congratulations at Anjin Hirashi and
Macha Hirashi.
Pious Laule Kimori's dragonhead ring snorts little puffs of smoke
into the air.
